Poliomyelitis, often called polio, is a viral infectious disease that affects nerves and can lead to partial or full paralysis. The disease is caused by infection with the poliovirus which can be spread by direct person-to-person contact, contact with infected mucus in the nose or mouth and contact with infected feces.

There are three basic types of polio infections: subclinical infections, non-paralytic and paralytic.

Most of victims are sufferers of subclinical infections, which usually show little to now symptoms. Their symptoms may include: general discomfort, headache, red throat, fever, sore throat and vomiting. Symptoms usually only last for a couple of days.

Non paralytic infections affect the central nervous system but do not involve the paralysis of the body. Symptoms include:

• Backache
• Diarrhea
• Fatigue
• Headache
• Leg pain
• Fever
• Muscle stiffness
• Neck pain
• Skin rash and vomiting.

Symptoms usually last for about 2 weeks.

Paralytic polio affects the central nervous system and involves either partial or full paralysis of the body. Other symptoms include: fever, abnormal sensations, breathing difficulty, constipation,
drooling, headache, muscle spasms, muscle pain, muscle weakness and sensitivity to touch.

There is no cure for polio in modern medicine. Modern medicine attempts to control symptoms but does so with very little effect and with many unwanted side effects.

Fortunately, there is still hope for you if you are a sufferer of polo due to natural remedies.Contact Raif Emini,  Licensed Holistic Practitioner, Master of Alternative Medicine, PhD. in Natural Medicine.
